Blog Post #6

None of my teachers had class websites when I was growing up so I really didn’t see any until I got to college. Last semester I observed at FSUS, the charter school attached to FSU and all the teachers had class websites. On their websites they had information about themselves along with a class calendar and information about upcoming events they had going on like field trips. This website was for a fifth grade class at FSUS. He also included information about what they had been learning in class.

I do see myself having a website for my classroom in the future. It gives parents a way to see what I am teaching their kids as well as give them more information about myself and what our schedule looks like. I will probably make a class blog as well so that the parents could be more interactive with the class and their kids education. I want to use technology but I also don’t want to cause a problem if a family doesn’t have access to a computer.
I had a hard time seeing myself using a lot of the technology in the Tech Sandbox in my classroom because it was all so expensive. If I had unlimited funds then I would love to use the newest smart board. It can be put flat or separated into different sections so that multiple kids could use it at the same time. I also really enjoyed learning about the different ways that tablets could be used like keeping an eye on the kids while you couldn’t. The Tech Sandbox was great and I learned a lot.
