Blog Post #3
I think that I am the most prepared to teach keyboarding skills. I looked at the 5th grade standards because that is what I want to teach right now and most of the standards are pretty advanced. I am not great with technology but I’ve known how to type since I was in 2nd grade. I think I would be help with multimedia components like graphics and sound because I haven’t done a lot that has required me to use those.
The CPALMS gives a bunch of very useful tools and the one I think I would use the most is the instruction resources like lesson plans. Though a teachers main responsibility is to teach these kids the lessons given to them in the curriculum, lesson plans take the longest to make and are the most important thing a teach makes. If there are premade lesson plans I could use more time making sure the kids understood the information and could also spend more time with each kid individually. Just for 5th grade science there are 204 lesson plans so there are plenty of helpful options for teachers.
I learned a few new things from the Newsletter Design assignment. One thing was how to add a border to a document. I could use this new skill a lot in my classroom. I liked this because it prepared me for what I will be doing in the future but one thing that could be improved is there could be a little bit more leniency with the grading.

Awesome post Kendall! I also agree with using the lesson plans provided under the CPALMS toolkit. I think especially for a beginner teacher this would be super helpful! not to copy but just to use as a guideline!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that lesson planning takes a lot of time. I personally want to make most if not all of my lesson plans though. I think that is entirely up to the teacher and neither way is wrong.
ReplyDeleteHi Kendall, I am with you in regards to the typing skill! I had to learn how to type ever since first grade and I have truly grown to typing quite fast. I really enjoy your newsletter design! The apples are a nice touch.
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed that you could type by 2nd grade! And I totally wish the music category had as many resources as science -- I found a measly ONE resource! Your newsletter also looks like something I would have been given by an elementary school teacher, so it's very authentic haha nice job!
