Blog Post #2
I have been using word since I was in Elementary School. I have used it to write papers, take notes and even make posters and projects. I have seen my teachers use word when making presentations, making tests and quizzes and making permission slips for various things like field trips. Word is definitely the most used application on my laptop because I can do just about everything on it. When I was in high school I used to use Word to make my study guides and I would make practice tests for my friends and me. I feel like I am a pro at Word so this most recent skills check was fairly easy for me.
I have some experine with copyright but not much. I did a lot of research papers in high school and my past year of college so I am very good at MLA citing but I don't have a lot of experince with copyrighting of movies or videos. When I used to make presentations for class I always tried to use as many of my own photos so that I didn't have to cite it. Not only did I use photos for presentations, I also used to have to make a lot of videos for my classes so I had to cite the music that I would use. I believe that in my class I would make sure my kids knew how to cite but I would try mostly to not have them use outside sources. Some research projects would be good to let them learn more but citing for young kids is extremely confusing.
One solution to copyright issues could be teaching kids how to cite sources correctly at a young age and show how important it is to do so. One way to make sure students aren't plagiarizing and are using academic honesty is to make a set punishment for anyone who plagiarizes. One way this could happen is my using a zero tolerance system. Lastly, one way we could solve the problem of cyberbullying is showing a lot of movies and real world examples of cyberbullying.

Yes! Teach them at a young age to get it ingrained in their head. It's been proven that when you learn at a younger age, you retain it better.
ReplyDeleteI think it was great of your teachers to get you used to MS Word from such a young age. It is important to teach kids how to be efficient in technology software from a young age so that they can grow with it.
ReplyDeleteWord was my favorite application when in school. I loved to create stories with it and it taught me how to write properly in a computer. Invaluable!
